While this elastic ribbon is fantastic in terms of durability, and comfort, buyers NEED TO BE AWARE that the length is MISLEADING. The specifications state it is 2 yards. NOT TRUE. The length of the product is consistently 68 inches, a full 4 inches short. While this may not be important to many users, those of us who use these ribbons in loops (therefore not cutting and tying the ribbons) have recently found that they are consistently getting shorter.

Blueturtlewave01/11/2014SO AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE!
I had these recommended to me after an Achilles' tendon rupture and tendonitis. They are like heaven. Not too springy, but just right. The knot stays, and stays when you tuck it. I will never go back to regular ribbons.

Russ66310/25/2013THE TIPS
make sure you either bend over and sew the tips, burn the tips or at a min. cut them at a angle.. otherwise they will fray quickly.. the bend over and sewing them works best and cant be seen.

molsmama09/29/2013COMFORTABLE AND EFFECIENT
Have used these ribbons a lot the last year. They are functional and very convenient. I have chronic Achilles tendon problems and I have no problems with these ribbons. They seem to reduce pain and they keep me dancing! It is easy to access and modify pointe shoe needs because the ribbons are so stretchy. Glad I found these. Highly recommend them!

PNWIceDancer07/08/2013PERFECT FOR RETURNING TO POINTE!
I am returning to pointe after twoo foot surgeries and wanted to be as gentle on my feet as possible. these ribbons are perfect, they are comfortable, durable and I am beyond thrilled. I seared the edges with a light and box stitched them to keep them from fraying, like I would any ribbon, and haven't had any problems. The color looks beautiful and matches my Bloch European Balance perfectly!! No complaints here!

russianpointestar06/02/2013BEST RIBBONS EVER!!!!!
I got these ribbons for a show that I had to do, and sewed them on my flat shoes. I still wear those shoes to class 6.5 hours per week and they don't come loose, inly they itch if you are wearing footless tights.
I like that they are stretch/elastic because when you tie a knot, it doesn't ever get loose. The price is pretty reasonable too.

ballerinemma05/26/2013GET THE EXTRA SUPPORT VERSION!!
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE EXTRA SUPPORT VERSION. I have used both versions, and the review applies for the most part to the regular version as well, but get the extra support! It is much better.
These are great even if you don't have tendon problems!
I love these ribbons. I've been using them for quite a while, and used regular ribbons for quite a while before that. Before, I was having problems with my achilles when I did pointe. These (and a little bit of stretching the tendon) made that go away! I also used to spend time trying to find the right balance between too tight and too loose. I'd have to flex and pointe my foot and make sure my ribbons were positioned perfectly. Because they stretch, this is not a problem at all with these. You just tie them however and go. Additionally, because they are elastic, it is much easier to tuck your ribbons in and have them not fall out. The elastic holds the extra ribbon snug to your ankle instead of having it fall out a few times each class. I still tape it onstage just to be extra extra sure, but they very rarely fall out.
These are a little tricky to untie. I love that you can tie them quickly, but it is easy to get the knots too tight. However, there is a solution that my friend taught me and works perfectly. All you have to do is take a hairpin out of your bun (I use the bunheads ones that almost everyone uses and they work for this but I'd imagine any pin would work), and then poke the end through the knot and pull it undone.
Another benefit of these is that if you need to get your pointe shoes off quickly, you can just pull them off and leave the ribbons tied and deal with those later. They come off in about one second instead of having to untie them like you do with regular ribbons. And when I need to adjust my toepad, I can simply shift the shoe forward and off my foot, access the toepad, and move my shoe back on without the ribbons becoming untied.
These can run and fray on the sides pretty easily, but it doesn't affect the performance of the pointe shoe, especially since most die pretty quickly so there isn't much time for the ribbons to get messed up.
I originally tried the regular version, not the extra strength. The color is bizarrely shiny, as opposed to a nice matte pink on these. These are also a bit stronger. I definitely recommend these ribbons!

Mckayla06/03/2012MAKE SURE YOU BURN THE ENDS!!
best ribbons ever!! i put them on my flat shoes and pointe shoes and they have lasted for months!! just make sure you burn the ends because i barely had time to sew them on let alone burn them before i went to class and they frayed a good inch and a half down. but you can tie satin ribbons to loose and have them bag and your shoes fall off, or you can tie them too tight and it hurts. but with these theyre so stretchy and comfortable everyone should use them!!

These ribbons are the best! They allow you to flex and pointe your feet without feeling like they're cutting into your ankles and are much more comfortable than regular satin ribbons. They will fray at the ends, of course, so just burn the ends and they'll last you forever!
I recommend to all!!!!

Ashleigh07/19/2010BEST RIBBON EVER
I had problems with satin ribbons cutting into my ankles, but still had to tie them tight in order to keep my pointe shoe secure. I tried these and fell in love! They don't support as much, but I don't have a problem with ankle support because of my muscles. They also don't fray at all, and I always singe the ends anyway to prevent this. I have used a seam ripper to remove these from old shoes and have re-sewn them several times with no problems. The color is very light, but not a big deal. I use Gaynor Minden and that is a very dark peach, but on stage it isn't bad. You can also dye them, although it requires more dying time than your shoes, especially with black. I highly recommend these to anyone.

India10/28/2008THE BEST RIBBONS EVER!
I just got new pointe shoes, and so I decided to try these ribbons instead of the regular ribbons. I like them a lot. I danced with them for the first time last night, and they are really great! Yes, they do fray quite easily, but that is okay with me. I can tie them nice and snug, and they will stretch when I go up on pointe. With my old ribbons, I had to tie them loose so that they wouldn't hurt when going up on pointe. With these, I don't have that problem! These are definitely worth a try for $3.85. :D

Lizzie08/23/2008FANTASTIC RIBBONS, HAVE SOME DOWNSIDES
I own and use Prima Soft's ribbons. I have tendonitis and they work wonderfully if you want stretchy ribbons. They are really the best ribbons for your ankles. The problems with them are that they don't look like satin ribbons (although they do have a shiny look to them that mimics satin), they fray easily, and can be hard to untie. On the plus side, I have never had my knots come out and you don't need to use knot keepers :) I would highly recommend these ribbons!

Katt Monroe06/06/2008 St. Petersburg, Fl,
This ribbon is nice, but it's more like elastic than ribbon. I have really long fingernails, so when I try to untie it, it keeps fraying! If you paint the edges with clear nail polish it helps, but the side seams keep fraying and poufing the way elastic does.

EmmyGal11/12/2007GREAT ON FLATS, NOT SO MUCH ON POINTES
I require a bit more support for my left ankle due to past injuries, and this didn't do it. But the color is gorgeous, especially if you wear the lighter shoes (pointe or flat): RP, Grishko, Sansha. A hairpin or sewing needle gets the knots out easily.
My daughter has to wear ribbons with her ballet flats now, so I gave her these. She loves them! They provide her with just enough ankle support, lots of flexibility, and look perfect with her Russian Pointe andantes. Even her teacher commented on how great they look on her.

Pheebs11/02/2007 Vermont,OK, THEY WERE GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT
They're comfortable, but also they don't give a lot of support and definitely make ugly knots. I like them, but I don't love them.

They may not give a lot of support, but I don't need that. Knots are easy to get out for me. Flexibility without pain! My 5th time buying them. LOVE them TO DEATH!

Anna03/04/2007 New York,AMAZING!
I love these! They didn't snag for me! I have a very flexible arch and these are the only ribbons that actually hold my foot in the pointe shoe! To untie them, I put a hairpin through the knot and pull. It works fine! I would recommend these to everyone!

Julie12/30/2006GOOD, ONLY IF YOU DON'T NEED SUPPORT
I liked these better than the flexers, due to the fact that they were more comfortable. However, I found the knot impossible to untie and that they didn't offer the support that traditional ribbon offers.

Anonymous09/18/2006I DON'T LIKE THEM
Honestly, these ribbons are not all they are cracked up to be. They are good for if you make a mistake by cutting your ribbon too short after sewing them on, but they do not support your ankle like the description says. I practically broke my ankle when I took a pointe class in them. Another thing-they do not pull you up and out of your shoes, so there is pretty much no arch.

Prima Soft's Extension Stretch Ribbon is great! They provide more range of motion for your foot. More like elastic than ribbon, although they do snag very easy. If you have ankle problems, then these ribbons will be perfect for you!
