06/17/2015With this being one of the rare tapered pointe shoes from Bloch, I was excited to try it out. The Suprima shoes are beautifully made and definitely tapered. The vamp is low but not terribly low; closer to medium - it covered all my metatarsals and didn't cause knuckling (i have medium-longish toes). The only real problem was the box. The platform is almost square in shape, giving the box a flattened, brick-like appearance. I would also consider this a medium-high profile shoe, which unfortunately didn't work for me. I would recommend this to someone who has higher profile feet and wide tapered toes. For dancers with narrow feet and narrow tapered toes like me, I recommend the Axis shoes if you want to try Bloch (I just wish they made a traditional paste version of it).

05/25/2014I ordered these because my 13 year old daughter's pointe shoes went dead a week and a half before recital (thank you Murphy's Law). She normally wears a Suffolk Ensemble, which is a short-vamp, low-profile, somewhat-tapered shoe. The Bloch Suprima was suggested to me as a good substitute since there was no way to get her regular shoes in time.
I am very impressed with Discount Dance -- the price is excellent, and I had the shoes in 2 days (paid the Priority Shipping charge with 3-4 day ground shipping).
The shoes, however, are *not* low-profile. They are definitely more of a medium-profile shoe. They will, of course, do for her upcoming performances, and she'll wear them to class until they die, but I wanted to leave this review so others would know that slight issue.
Also -- she is having a hard time breaking these shoes in and she says that rolling up through demi to pointe is much more difficult in these than with her Suffolks. I am hoping that this issue resolves once she gets them to break in.

11/17/2013These are great once broken in. The vamp is short enough for my toes and they make my feet look pretty. Very reliable during my company's Nutcracker show. Very comfortable; i can get away with wearing very thin toepads

10/08/2013This shoe worked very well for my narrow-heeled Egyptian foot (longest big toe, tapered toes) and lasted for about 3 months (4 hours of pointe per week.) Like other reviews have stated, I too found that these shoes pulled me back onto my heels at first, but I just bent the shank back and forth to break it in a bit and it was fine. Barre and center work is easy except for the bulky shank which makes actually makes it difficult to balance sometimes. It starts digging into the center of my heel about 30 minutes into class or rehearsal. But overall, the shoe looks nice and supports my arch supremely well.

06/03/2013I purchased these shoes for my daughter who's in her 4th year of pre-pointe. She loves the shoes and won't take them off!!! The price is much more reasonable that what we found at our local retailers too!!!

02/10/2013I bought these shoes because the description and the picture looked like they would be the right shape for my foot, and I was right. (Narrower heel, tapered toes.) The shoe really supports my arch and shows it nicely. These pulled me back onto my heels at first, but I broke in the arch a bit (bent it back and forth and pulled out the nail) and after 1 class they were perfect. The only bad part is that the shank is a bit bulky, and I really feel it in my heel if I have to stand around during a rehearsal.

12/15/2012The shape is all wrong, and the way they fit is strange. They twist in strange way, and the box is so short and not much to stand on. I think I will try another pair of Aspirations.

10/04/2012This was my first pair of pointe shoes. It took 3 hours to find a shoe to fit my unique foot: narrow heel, tapered toes, low arch. My teacher instructed me to wear only lambs wool and to break them in by rolling through demi-pointe up to pointe many times and to bend the arches gently by hand to form an arch. They broke in nicely by my 2nd class and the box is quite soft. I prefer my pointe shoes to be almost dead, so these were good for me. I don't know how long they last compared to other shoes, because I still haven't been able to get my Axis pair soft enough yet, but I know that they held up to my 2 month old akita puppy who dragged them them out of my bag which was in my closet. The satin was scratched, but the rest was fine. I do not like the way they look on my feet, but I am buying another pair and using the break-in method I found posted by DDS on YouTube.

Massatchusetts,I loved these shoes way better then my old Bloch serenades. Suprimas don't bag up and i balance very well on them and can't wait to get them again even thought my toes would overlap.

05/13/2010These are awesome for balancing and turning! The platform is really square-shaped and it helps amazingly. I go through a pair quite fast though, and I break them at my arch otherwise they don't conform to my foot very well. However, I really really like them, and they are cheap as far as pointe shoes go.

Montana,These are my first pair of shoes and at first they were very nice. I was kinda nervous about having such a small box to balance on but they have been good. However I have noticed that they tend to cram my toes together pushing one on top of the other at times and I regularly get blisters on my pinky toes from the sides of the box. I would suggest this shoe for someone with a more tapered foot.

02/25/2010I ordered this shoe because of my tapered toes, but I didn't care for these pointe shoes. I wore it for a few classes, but the box was so small I found it really hard to balance properly. I ended up having to buy new shoes after trying to wear it for a few classes because it was so uncomfortable. I would only recommend getting this shoe if you have super tapered toes, and make sure you get you teachers approval.

01/13/2010I wore these shoes for about 2 yrs, not the same pair, but then my feet got too strong for them. I suggest them for beginners. I thought it was easier to get over the narrow box rather than freed studio IIs w/ a wide box. I use more boxy shoes now but these worked great for a while.

California,These shoes are fine for a class but extremely painful to wear for a show or for long periods of time. The worst part is while breaking them in they were extremely noisy and squeak when you turn.

08/21/2009I have had 6 pairs of pointe shoes and all of them have been Bloch Suprimas... it took me 3 hours and all the pointe shoes in the building to find these and I love them! I have tried Gaynor Mindens, Grishkos, Sansha, russian pointe, and a couple others and these are the only shoes I have found to work. I have medium arches and really strong feet. The only bad thing is for me they break in really fast!

Indianapolis,I have tried every other shoe, this is the only one that works for me. I've tried other Bloch shoes, Capezios, Sansha and more, no other shoe works on my feet. Great shoes, breaks in quickly, thin enough to feel the floor but still provides good support.

Hampshire,I have just bought these as my first pair of pointe shoes, and they are SO good. I have a C width, and they fit perfectly. My teacher says not to use any padding, and I was quite scared to go on pointe without any padding but these shoes are so great I didn't need it. I will definatly buy these in the future, as they are a great fit. Thank you Bloch for a great shoe!!!

09/18/2008These were my first pointe shoes, and I just ordered another pair for my second!!! They formed to my feet really well. I have small, average width feet with a high arch. They did blister my pinky toes to the point of bleeding, so get those little pinky pads to go with them!

California,This is a good shoe for tapered feet, although like all of the Bloch shoes, the box is too big. A pointe shoe should fit like a glove and I haven't found a Bloch that does. I am alternating these with the Serenade and Sonata models to deal with my bunions and arthritis. All of these shoes require me to use a box liner and gel pads in lieu of my usual Kleenex for padding. These shoes bend well at half toe right away and fit my narrow heels and wider ball well. I polyurathane the boxes every few weeks to maintain strength and eliminate breakdown due to moisture. Since I use pointe shoes for a whole class, six days a week, I run a 4 to 6 shoe rotation. The shoes last a lot longer as a result. The smaller end on these also allows for faster turns than the big square ends on the Serenades. After a couple of months, the boxes shrink from all the polyurathane and then I can toss out the liners!

02/09/2008I love these pointe shoes! I am an intermediate dancer and they are very good. My friend is also a beginner and they are very nice on her too. They are good for wide feet(mine are). They have a very beautiful white-pink color that most people love. I give these 10 stars!!!

09/13/2007I have a very wide foot. I'm an E width in regular ballet shoes. This shoe is great for my foot. It looks very narrow but somehow the D width fits me perfectly. The heel sags a bit but overall it's a great shoe!

08/30/2006These shoes are very comfy, and last pretty long. Be careful about falling out of your turn in pointe. My sister did, and the shoe went sideways, and she broke her foot! But these are still good shoes. I tried others, but these shoes ruled in comfort and how easy they are to break in and get up all the way.

Chester, Va,This is the only shoe my daughter will dance in, as she has used these for 5 years. The shoe holds up well, breaks in quickly but does not wear down nor does the box break. A really terrific product.

04/25/2006This shoe is very comfy, and has good support. However, the box is a bit narrow and isn't ideal for those with square feet. A great shoe overall!

Australia,The Suprima is very nice to look at and fits really well, with no bagging around the heel. Great for adage because it is a fairly soft shoe but gives good support around your arch. I would not recommend this shoe for pirouettes at all. Due to the tapered platform, it is very easy to fall off pointe sideways in pirouettes. These shoes are probably better for a dancer with some experience in pointe shoes, in order to have correct foot placement. Good shoe all around, very comfy!
